Our first book publishes next month
Our first book publishes on 27 November and wentt to print last week. It's been good to test the system and much has been learned along the way.
No man is an island
I’m a Quaker and setting up Turnpike Press is my way of living the Quaker values. We publish books that encourage equality; we aim to make things simple; we are pacifists and truth and authenticity are key to our approach.
John Donne was right when he said that ‘no man is an island.’ The same is true of a business, and so we’ve joined the Independent Publishers’ Guild. This 50 year old national network has more than 600 members.
In his book ‘Outliers’ Malcolm Gladwell calculated that you need do put in 10,000 hours to any activity before you can claim ‘world class expertise.’ I’ve had 19 books published so far, which certainly means I’ve put the hours in.
